Restore 5.0, 5.10, and 6.0 MER files on 64-bit OS

If you have had to recover a PanelView™ Plus MER file that was compiled on a 32-bit operating system, you found that it could not be restored on a 64-bit operating system. This was because the older WATCOM Tag database is not supported on a 64-bit operating system.  A recent Patch for FactoryTalk View Machine Edition allows for MER files developed in version 5.0, 5.10 and 6.0 to be restored on a 64-bit operating system.

The following is from Rockwell Automation Knowledge Base AID 1059820:

Problem

MER files created with version 10.0 or later of FactoryTalk® View Machine Edition are unable to be restored in FactoryTalkView Machine Edition 9.0 and earlier.  Also, unable to restore 5.0, 5.10, and 6.0 MER files on a 64-bit Operating System.

Solution

The patch below allows versions 9.0 and earlier to be able to restore an MER file created in 10.0.  It also allows 5.0, 5.10, and 6.0 MER files created on a 32-bit OS to be restored on a 64-bit OS.
